A Real Downtown, Lunch Counter, And A Surprise InsideWednesday, September 03, 2014
On our way to visit the Amish community in Ethridge, Tennessee one day, we stopped in Pulaski for a little bit. What's great is that they have a courthouse square and most of the businesses on it are open and seemed to be doing a good amount of business.
Outside the courthouse was a farmer's market, and there were sidewalk sales going on...
This hardware store had real promise. Est 1891:
Crockery in the windows, plants piled up outside in wagons...
And unhappy pickle art.
Yes, yes, yes:
We settled in at Reeves Drug Store, where they have a lunch counter. And Fenton. And gifts and fragrances, too. I guess they're the new kids on the block, because I found something saying they've been open since 1892:
They didn't have egg-and-olive, so I got pimento cheese, after they promised it was made there. Still, I wanted it to be better. Was there...was it Velveeta inside? The cheese was crazy-soft and not right. Goopy. Too bad.
That's okay! We got a big, fun, excellent surprise when we left.
