Cheekwood Art And Gardens In NashvilleMonday, March 05, 2012
We visited Cheekwood Art and Gardens in Nashville for the first time back on my birthday in October, and it was great -- it's Nashville's botanical gardens and it has so much art...
The boys' favorite part was the outdoor model train layout, which had several buildings, all made from natural materials. I think this exhibit ended December 31, but it was so pretty:
There were several frames around the gardens that people were posing behind...
(what a great idea!)
The sculpture trail was great -- this is the Glass Bridge by Siah Armajani, and about it, they say: More than 500 years ago the great glassblowers of Murano, Italy, tried to build a glass bridge over the Grand Canal in Venice. Sadly, the sparkling gem collapsed into the lagoon, not to be recreated - until now. Sculpture today may be more than an object to behold; experience the magic of passing through this remarkable creation.
There were several other sculptures on the trail - so nice.
The Mathilde Roussel: Anatomia Botanica exhibit will run here from March 24 - May 13.
Cheekwood is also on a generous reciprocal program with other gardens and museums around the country.
Since it was Sunday, we decided to just run to Bobbie's Dairy Dip for lunch -- this is their vegetarian black bean burger...yum!
