Big Fish in Gadsden AL

Sunday, September 16, 2007

Last week, Av and I were in Gadsden, so I took some pics of the fish that are part of the Big Fish Literacy Program civic project they're doing. At first, it took me a while to find them, because I expected them to be on the sidewalk, but instead, they were on poles, so you have to look up a little to find them.

I think civic projects like this are so much fun...I've taken pics of them in:

Belzoni, MS:
Catfish, Belzoni MS

Pensacola, FL:
Tail of Two Cities Pelican, Pensacola FL

Lake Charles, LA:
Alligator, Lake Charles LA

Meridian, MS:
Carousel Horse, Meridian MS

and Dothan, AL:
Civic Project: Peanut, Dothan Eagle, Dothan AL

Here are just a few of the ones in Gadsden:

This one's my favorite - one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish:

I wish I'd gone to their website first, though, because I would have looked for the one that Charlie Lucas did - they have a pic of it here.

There's a group on Flickr called "Big Things - Kitsch & Tacky, Strange & Weird Tourist Attractions" that has lots of great pics of things like this, too.
