Drury Inn, Mobile ALSunday, August 06, 2006
Av and I stayed two nights this week in Mobile, so we decided to try different hotels for each night. The first night, we stayed at the Drury Inn. We've only stayed at one other DI (the one in Frankenmuth, Michigan) but I think this room was smaller...
...and the bathroom was tiny.
There was a mini-fridge and a microwave in our room, too.
When we checked in, we were given cards for up to three (alcoholic) drinks each, downstairs - we didn't use them. There were also cokes and snacks available, but we passed on those too. Each morning, there is a hot breakfast (cost included) served downstairs...but we had breakfast at the Tiny Diny instead (where the biscuits were good, but the white gravy was the color and texture of Elmer's glue, and was tasteless. We must have gone on the wrong day, because they stay really busy!).
One of the stranger things about staying at a DI is that they offer one hour of free long distance for each nights' stay. Also, I think this is the first time we've stayed at a hotel where the parking is gated - they give you a code when you check in - so that made me wonder if they've had a problem with crime in the past.
The front desk staff was really, really friendly, but I don't think we will stay here again. I am *so* looking forward to the RSA's Battle House Hotel opening there!
